Artist Bio
Sarah Wren Wilson is an Irish artist based between Dublin and the West of Ireland. In her painting practice she examines the process of abstraction through a transition of narratives. A starting point for form, line, and colour stems from daily fleeting observations from the artist's immediate perception of her surroundings. The formal language of the artwork pays homage to the history of abstract painting interweaving colour-field, expressionism with hard-edged structuralism. Colour is a key component to the work, relying on the rules of colour theory to achieve compositional balance before deliberately disturbing this balance with synthetic colour. She studied BA (Hons) Fine Art at Loughborough University, England before completing her Fine Art Masters at the Glasgow School of Art, Scotland. She has exhibited both nationally and internationally and recently had a Solo Exhibition; Ping Pong at Linenhall Art Centre, Castlebar. This year, she was awarded a year’s studio residency award with RHA IPUT Wilton Park Studio, Dublin.
